Etisalat expects Maroc Telecom deal to close by mid-May

UAE telecoms group, Etisalat has said its purchase of Vivendi’s 53% stake in Maroc Telecom, Morocco’s main provider, is expected to be completed on May 14, AFP has reported. Vivendi and Etisalat, one of the largest telecoms groups in the Middle East, began negotiations at the end of April, 2013. Etisalat, which also operates in Saudi Arabia and in Egypt and has interests in Africa and Asia, provides services to 145 million customers in 15 countries.
