Zain Bahrain celebrates 11th anniversary of ‘Back to School CSR Project’ with eco-friendly school bags
Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of trustees to the Royal Charity Organization, Zain Bahrain – the most innovative operator – celebrated the 11th anniversary of its ‘Back to School’ project. The event was held at the Rafea Gubash Hall in Al Jawhara and attended by Mr. Mohammed Al Awadhi Human Resources Manager from the Royal Charity Organization in addition to the NGO representatives who support Zain Bahrain by distributing the schoolbags across the educational institutions in the Kingdom.
Launched back in 2004; the ‘Back to School’ program has so far distributed a total of 200,000 school bags and kits to students. This year, Zain Bahrain has used the ‘Go Green’ approach by providing ‘eco-friendly’ school supplies.
Zain Bahrain’s Chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa thanked His Highness Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for extending his patronage to the company’s education-focused project, saying: “Zain Bahrain as proud of its consistent commitment to the empowering of youth through education which remained a key component of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program.” He said, “We are proud of our Back-to-School project which has grown along with Zain Bahrain in the Kingdom. This was one of the very first community projects adopted by Zain Bahrain in 2004. Today over 200,000 children have been empowered over this one decade of Back To School service. His Highness Shaikh Nasser’s patronage will undoubtedly encourage those students associated with the project to do their best academically and utilize their talent to serve the Kingdom.”
General Secretary of the Royal Charity Organization, Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, commented, “On behalf of the Organization, I would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Zain Bahrain along with its board members and General Manager for their continued support. The ‘Back to School’ is a prime example of the nature of the CSR initiatives adopted by Zain Bahrain. The operator is one of the leading national companies in terms of giving back to the community.”
General Manager of Zain Bahrain, Mohammed Zainalabedin added, “We are very proud of our Back-to-School project. This is the one of the very first community projects adopted by Zain when it first launched in the Kingdom and is the cornerstone of our CSR strategy. It also demonstrates our vital role and willingness to empower the community.”
“During the past ten years we have been able to help over 200,000 students in Bahrain. Zain Bahrain aims to support youth development, educational and social initiatives and will always contribute to the country’s continuous attempts to strengthen the youth,” he said.
During the event, Zain Bahrain’s Corporate Communications Manager, Samya Hussain, addressed the audience saying, “We are also proud of this year’s achievement – we will be distributing eco-friendly school bags and kits, which is in line with Zain’s overall strategy of adopting a ‘green way of living.”
Representatives of the around 100 NGO’s across the Kingdom of Bahrain received letters at the end of the event which will then be exchanged for the schoolbags.
