Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) has today announced a long-term agreement with Ras al-Khaimah Tourism (RAK) to develop the destination with UK consumers.
The Emirate, just a 45 minute transfer from Dubai International Airport and host to a range of international brands of four and five star luxury hotels, will be an important destination for RB throughout 2015.
As part of the agreement, RB will work with new and existing tour operators and travel trade partners, with a number of marketing and branding initiatives and travel agent familiarisation trips planned over the next 12 months.
RB has also committed to working with its travel trade partners to offer competitive package deals for UK travellers looking for affordable year-round sunshine breaks.
Operating daily flights from London Heathrow to Dubai on the flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner, RB has a strong heritage in this space, with the new partnership seen as a valuable opportunity to strengthen this.
Aiden Walsh, UK and Ireland Country Manager for Royal Brunei, said: “As a predominantly leisure carrier in a highly competitive market, aligning ourselves with Ras al-Khaimah makes perfect sense. The destination has so much to offer travellers who want to enjoy a year-round resort-style experience, with excellent hotels including international brands such as Hilton, Rixos, Banyan Tree and Rotana.
“Our daily flight to Dubai is the perfect gateway to Ras al-Khaimah which is only a short transfer away. I am very much looking forward to working with our colleagues at Ras al-Khaimah Tourism to increase the awareness of the destination to the UK public and travel trade and growing visitor numbers”.
Steven Rice, CEO of Ras al-Khaimah Tourism, said: “We are very excited to be working with Royal Brunei Airlines to build awareness in the UK for Ras al-Khaimah as a quality destination offering guaranteed sunshine, clean beaches, wonderful nature and a wide selection of world-class hotels and resorts. There is great synergy between our brands and we look forward to growing the destination together.”
Royal Brunei Airlines has also announced that it will be the headline sponsor of this year’s Institute of Travel & Tourism Conference, hosted in Ras al-Khaimah in June. This marks a further commitment by RB to working with trade partners in the region to build its profile and offer competitive package deals for UK travellers.
RB currently operates daily flights out of London Heathrow to 16 cities around the world, including Melbourne, Kota Kinabalu, Bali and Dubai. RB is also the only airline to guarantee all long-haul passengers a flight on its flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
