In keeping to its philosophy of community involvement, Alila Hotels & Resorts will celebrate the opening of the brand new Alila Jabal Akhdar with a Gift To Share Program focusing on benefitting the local community.
Designed as an introductory privilege for local and GCC residents, guests booking one night’s stay will receive a complimentary second night in return for a donation to an approved government charity. Rates start from just OMR 98 plus taxes, only available during the month of May. Alila Jabal Akhdar has chosen to support the work of Dar Al Atta’a, a local charitable organization. This initiative will be the first of its kind in Oman and will reinforce Alila’s commitment in benefitting its host community.
Frederic Simon, CEO of Alila Group, said, “At every Alila destination, it is very important for us to be connected with the locals as we employ from within the village whenever possible. Alila Jabal Akhdar is in a stunning location and we are delighted that the Sultanate is our first foray into the Middle East. The region, its traditions and heritage provide a fascinating insight into Oman. We are confident that the Alila guest will be delighted with the destination and will contribute to this worthy cause to support its people in the preservation of this beautiful region.”
Dubbed the most anticipated hotel opening in the Middle East, Alila Jabal Akhdar promises an unparalleled retreat in the mountains for guests seeking a holistic experience to soothe the body and mind.
Jork Bosselaar, General Manager of Alila Jabal Akhdar, commented on the rationale behind the introductory promotion. He said, “Operating a hotel is a two way process and it is important that we not only respect the area but also lend our support to preserve the unique culture of Jabal Akhdar as well as in benefiting the local community through our association with the Dar Al Atta’a. We are looking forward to welcoming guests at the resort soon.”
The Dar Al Atta’a is a non-profit volunteer- based charity that was formed in 2002 and was formally registered as a charity in 2006 with the Ministry of Social Development of the Sultanate of Oman. This enabled Dar Al Atta’a to organize official fundraising activities as well as organize events, hire staff and effectively cater to the needs of the underprivileged in the Sultanate.
Alila properties across the globe are committed to social, cultural and environmental responsibilities, which they regard as essential for sustainable business practice. To bring the same ethos to the Sultanate, Alila Jabal Akhdar is offering the ‘Gift to Share Package’, a free night in return for a voluntary contribution to the approved charity.
Set 2,000 meters above sea level, the mountainous Jabal Akhdar region is two hours from the capital city and the hotel overlooks a dramatic gorge. Scheduled to open in late April 2014, the Alila Jabal Akhdar will feature 78 Suites, six Loft Suites and two Jabal Villas as well as a restaurant and lounge, Spa Alila, in addition to outdoor and indoor pools.
In all activities at the Alila Jabal Akhdar, the aim is to respect and preserve the way of life and traditions of the local Omani community and endeavour to minimise the impact on the environment by adhering to a policy of sustainable operating procedures and standards.
