The InterContinental Regency, one of Bahrain’s leading 5 star hotels, received an appreciation award from the Bahrain Diabetes Society (BDS) for their continuous support of the Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for Diabetes over the last 3 years. The support rendered to the Camp forms a significant part of the Hotel’s active Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts towards the overall benefit of the local communities in the kingdom of Bahrain.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Michael Koth, General Manager of The InterContinental Regency Bahrain, said, “At InterContinental Regency Bahrain, our central focus in terms of our Corporate Responsibility Program has always been on delivering a positive impact on the communities that we cater to as a business entity. We are proud to have received this appreciation award for our efforts in support of the Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for diabetes. We have been successfully supporting the Bahrain Diabetic Society and many other local organizations in a number of endeavors to promote and educate the public on various issues. This is our third year in support to the Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for Diabetes and we look forward to support many more similar local and global communities in the future.”
The award ceremony took place on the final day of the 3-day camp which was conducted from 6th to 8th March 2014 at the Qalali Youth Hostel. The award was received by Mr. Ali Hubail, the Head of Protocol and Government Relations on behalf of the InterContinental Regency Bahrain.
In line with its support to the endeavor, The InterContinental Regency provided the three-day camp participants with well-balanced meals that were suited to their health and helped them control their sugar levels.
The Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for Diabetes is one of the major annual events organized by the Bahrain Diabetes Society (BDS) in collaboration with other community organizations & health care facilities in Bahrain in order to raise awareness about the prevention and control of diabetes among the public.
This year, approximately 60 children and adolescents (ages of 9 to 18 years) with Type 1 Diabetes from Bahrain and other GCC countries participated in the event.
Having supported the event for 3 consecutive years, The InterContinental Regency Bahrain continues to encourage activities that call for awareness of critical issues such as Diabetes which has affected a large segment of the young population in the kingdom of Bahrain.
