Following a strong occupancy rate, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai officially unveiled its second tower last week, bringing an additional collection of 804 rooms and suites to the city’s continuously expanding portfolio.JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s current room count, as of Q1 2014,is 1,098 units. The second tower is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2014.
Owned by Emirates Group and officially recognised as the world’s tallest hotel standing at 355 metres – only 26 metres short of the Empire State Building in New York –JW Marriott Marquis is one of Dubai’s world-class convention and business destination hotels. Reaching out to modern-day luxury travellers, its suites and rooms are both contemporary and spacious.
The second tower will introduce a new lounge that builds on the hotel’s current 14-strong portfolio of restaurants and lounges. The new addition will be on the 72nd floorand will feature a two-tier function space, with breathtaking views of the Dubai skyline.
After the launch,both towers will comprise nine diverse restaurants and six lounges, along with the world-class Saray Spa and 8,500 square metresof event space, including two ballrooms.
Bill Keffer, hotel manager at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, says: “The second tower [has been launched] at an important time in Dubai’s development. Recent reports from theDepartment of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) predict that, by 2020, Dubai will receive approximately 20 million visitors per year. This is due to the UAE’s growing prominence as a MICE destination on the world stage and the recent Expo 2020 bid win. In light of this, we are confident that our hotel is in a strong position to cater to increased number of visitors, particularly because our conference and event facilities are equipped to host morethan 1,000 people for meet, dine and stay.”
In 2013, the hotel won a total of 16 international industry and media awards for its outstanding restaurants and lounges, architecture and design, and innovative business and convention facilities.
