Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) named the lucky winner in the GCC-wide social media competition launched last week as part of the Qatar Winter Tour. The competition invited followers to submit designs showing Paris and Doha landmarks. The competition has received more than 1200 entries from across the GCC countries for a chance to win an all-inclusive trip to Qatar to attend the friendly game between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid FC on 2 January 2014.
QTA continued its intensive program for Paris Saint-Germain’s Winter Tour in Doha as part of the 4-year partnership between QTA and the French club. The program has included trips to Sealine Beach Resort, Katara Cultural Village, the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the Corniche, and other touristic attractions in the country. The team was accompanied by Sébastien Prigent, the winner of QTA’s fan reporter competition who became the official reporter of the team’s tour in Qatar, reporting live on social media about the team’s activities and tourist outings.
Commenting on the program of activities arranged by QTA for the French club players and staff, Rashed Al Qurese, Director of Marketing and Promotions at QTA, said: “QTA has launched a dedicated website which will be the primary source of continuing tourist and fan promotions as well as exclusive content emanating from the winter tour, as part of QTA’s efforts to promote Qatar as a tourist destination.”
Al Qurese added ,”Five fans who won a competition previously organized by QTA , accompanied the French team on the Qatar Winter Tour. QTA organized a unique tourist program in Doha for these fans,to experience Qatar as a tourist destination.. He noted that a number of French media representatives are currently in Doha to cover this significant event, which in turn highlights Qatar as a destination of choice toward the French public and PSG football fans.”
Qatar Tourism Authority launched an advertising campaign in Paris three months ago to promote Qatar as the official destination for Paris Saint-Germain on a wide range of platforms, including social media, TV, and large scale billboards located in high-traffic spots across the city and at the Charles De Gaulle Airport. QTA also organized a competition for fans who attended Saint-Germain games, the last being the team’s game against Sochaux in the French League to win an all-inclusive trip to experience Qatar as a tourist destination.
Last weekend, QTA launched a TV commercial coinciding with the Qatar Winter Tour in Arabic, English, and French with the message “Paris comes to Doha”. The commercial airs on a television networks around the world, promoting Qatar to millions of Paris Saint-Germain fans around the globe.
