Given the importance of the Meeting Incentive Conference Exhibition (MICE) industry as one of the most significant elements of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030, and bearing in mind the industry’s influence on Qatar’s economic activity, a team has recently been formed from members of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the Ministry of Business and Trade, and Qatar Chamber to review the rules and regulations associated with organizing exhibitions involved in direct selling in Qatar, on the grounds that such exhibitions have received an overwhelming response from the local market in Qatar and require special focus in the next phase.
The team in charge of preparing the study will invite the exhibition planners, partners and other stakeholders to contribute to the market study and discuss how the needs of the market can be met. This will be done while taking into the consideration the importance of organizing and planning for exhibitions in an ideal format that would benefit all stakeholders involved in such exhibitions, including the exhibition planners, clients, shopping malls and the business community.
This will help achieve the objective of the study focusing on the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030, which seeks to promote three key types of tourism: urban, culture, and MICE tourism. QTA is formulating the appropriate vision for the MICE sector, considered to be one of the most important components of the tourism industry and a key tourism product.
The initiative reflects Qatar’s position in the GCC as an attractive and business friendly destination. As part of this initiative, QTA will study the laws and terms and conditions related to organizing of trade exhibitions in cooperation with exhibition planners and exhibitors. QTA is working with industry stakeholders to develop and implement laws and regulation based on practices that elevate the standards of Qatar’s tourism industry.
