The pioneering Desert Caravan Challenge concluded successfully on Saturday February 8th, with the participation 36 ambitious participants who undertook the challenge in the 2-day event in celebration of National Sport Day 2014.
The 2-day event has received an overwhelming response and has successfully attracted a wide range of nationalities. The 460 submissions included 55 nationalities were participants from 23 different nationalities were selected. The challenge has also appealed to males and females with 12 females and 24 males from different age groups between 23 and 54 years of age.
The second caravan marched through the scenic desert scape in the north-west of Qatar to the finish line at the famous Al Zubarah Fort. The challenge concluded, at its second and last day, with a recognition ceremony where His Excellency Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of QTA, handed recognition awards to the adventurous participants who have for two days lived a truly authentic Qatari experience.
The Desert Caravan Challenge builds a strong tourism offering into the occasion of National Sports Day, which is celebrated on the second Tuesday of February each year. The challenge falls within QTA’s objectives to develop a sustainable and diversified tourism sector through building touristic assets and offer a truly authentic Qatari experience to attract international tourists.
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is lining up some fun and sports activities for its staff and their families on the occasion of the National Sport Day on Tuesday. QTA will invite its employees to celebrate this day of activity and fun with a series of interactive teambuilding activities and competitions. Activities will feature team competitions in 10 different games including Volleyball, Beach Soccer, Water Polo, Water Gun, Canoeing, Relay Race, Sumo, Puzzles, Target shooting, and Tug of War along with various kids’ games activities.
National Sport Day highlights the importance of physical activity to healthy lifestyle, which contributes to the development of the society. It’s also a time to connect with family and colleagues.
