Saudi Arabia has introduced the kingdom’s first hospitality awards, Arab News has reported. The Hospitality Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) said the award was organised with the aim of promoting and enhancing fair competition among restaurants and cafes to improve services to customers. More than 400 restaurants and hotels participated in the contest, from which the committee selected 30 finalists, which was then narrowed down to 15, and finally, six winners. “We hope to continue this award annually and increase the value of the prize,” said the head of the committee, Khalid Al-Harthi. “Next year, we will announce a new award category for the best restaurant opened by an entrepreneur to encourage emerging youth,” he said.
