IATA’s regional vice president for the Middle East and Africa, Hussein Dabbas has said that low-cost carriers (LCCs) have witnessed fast growth in the Gulf region, with more room available for new budget airlines, Muscat Daily has reported. “At a time when people were not convinced that LCCs would succeed in this part of the world, they have been proven wrong,” said Dabbas. “We have many LCCs in the region and they are very successful. Earlier, it was thought LCCs would take a share from the same pie of the market, but they have created a new market in the region, due to low fares. We can see that LCCs are growing faster in the region,” he added.
