Airport International Group (AIG) – the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) – has announced the commencement of scheduled Aegean Airlines flights through QAIA.
Launched in cooperation with Petra Travel & Tourism Company, the inaugural flight arriving from Athens landed at QAIA, with the attendance of the Greek Ambassador to Jordan, Aegean Airlines executives and General Sales Agents in Jordan, as well as a group of AIG representatives.
The Star Alliance member, Aegean Airlines, currently operates two inbound and outbound flights per week between Amman and Athens, bringing the total number of QAIA direct routes to 67 destinations across four continents.
“Maximizing QAIA’s network outreach is at the forefront of AIG’s priorities. This step is closely aligned with our goal to further cement QAIA’s standing as Jordan’s gateway to the world, and to help position the Kingdom as a niche transfer hub for business and tourism travelers alike,” commented AIG CEO Kjeld Binger.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Petra Travel & Tourism Company for its dedicated efforts in introducing this particular route, and we eagerly look forward to operating additional flights to new worldwide destinations in the near future.”
In turn, Petra Travel & Tourism Company Managing Partner Wael Kawar stated, “We are pleased with the decision to introduce the Aegean Airlines route which will significantly increase passenger traffic between Jordan and Greece, as well as from other European countries included in Aegean Airlines’ extensive network. We are excited to have been chosen as the General Sales Agents for Aegean Airlines in Jordan, and would like to take this opportunity to thank AIG for its continuous efforts and support.”
