15,000 spectators flock to bigger and better edition of Al Khor Fly-In
The seventh edition of the Al Khor Fly-In marked a successful staging with a crowd of around 15,000 people, including H.E. Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar, were in attendance at the aviation-themed weekend family extravaganza held at the Al Khor Airport in Doha, Qatar.
Organized by the Al Khor Fly-In organizing committee, the success of the event was mainly due to the sponsorship and full support of the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar. Such support also made it possible for all guests and spectators to experience the highly entertaining and extremely informative activities at the event. Thus, together with Platinum Sponsors’ Qatar Airways, Gold Sponsors OOREDOO and RasGas, and Silver Sponsors Barwa Bank, QAFCO and Gulf Helicopters, this year’s edition of the annual crowd-drawing attraction proved to be its biggest and best show so far.
Both children and adults were amazed at the line-up of activities held over two days, which included parachute jumping, aerobatic show, static displays, as well as rare opportunities of interacting with world-class pilots from Qatar, the region and the world.
“The Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar is extremely proud to have played a key role in the successful staging of this event,” Al Nuaimi said. “As the Qatari government body mainly in-charge with all civil aviation activities in this country, we are very much delighted to be able to provide young children, as well as their families, with a unique experience and platform that allow them to get a closer glimpse into the world of aviation.”
“I definitely would not be surprised if some of the best minds in aviation of this country, including the best pilots, would someday come from this crowd who gathered here during these two days,” he added.
For his part, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al Thani, Chairman of the Al Khor Fly-In Organizing Committee expressed his gratitude for the full support provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar and the event’s key sponsors, as he also vowed to make next year’s edition even bigger and better than this year’s.
“We vowed to make this one bigger and better than last year,” Al Thani said. “By staying focused and true to that vow, we surely did.”
“Based on the overwhelming response from sponsors as well as the record-breaking attendance this event has elicited, we are further encouraged and emboldened to make this event even bigger and better the next time around,” he added. “Definitely, next year’s edition will have a show never before seen in the history of the Al Khor Fly-In.”
On the other hand, Khalid Abdulrahman Al Khater, Vice-Chairman of Al Khor Fly-In Organizing Committee expressed his gratitude for the support of the people who came to the event.
“We extremely thankful to the families, residents and visitors who attended the event and supported us,” Al Khater said. “It was indeed fulfilling to see all the fun, laughter and even amazement on the faces of children and their parents at the show.”
“At the same time, we are extremely thankful that everything went well and according to plan throughout the entire two days of the event,” he added. “This goes to show that as organizers, we have effectively put in all the necessary safety precautions in place, which in turn enabled an incident-free staging of this fun aviation-themed event.”
The Al Khor Airport, where the event was held, is located 31 km north of Doha, and is to the east of the Al Khor coastal road.
