A shareholder of Alitalia has said the troubled Italian airline must resolve its outstanding problems with Abu Dhabi airline Etihad this week or risk seeing the planned merger fail, Reuters has reported. “They’re playing with fire because we’ve run out of time and everyone has known it for a while,” said Giovanni Castellucci, chief executive of highway operator Atlantia, which holds a stake of around 7.5% in Alitalia. “The problems are at various levels and they have to be resolved immediately,” he told reporters at the margins of an event in Rome.
