Dubai Maritime Authority supports the launch of Middle East Offshore Conference 2014 in Dubai
The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has confirmed its participation as Platinum Sponsor in the upcoming Middle East Offshore Support Journal conference 2014, taking place in Dubai in May, in line with strategic initiatives to further strengthen the regional and global competitiveness of the local maritime sector. The event is being held in the Middle East for the first time by Riviera, publisher of the Offshore Support Journal (OSJ), a pioneering international publication and event management company specializing in offshore support.
“The inaugural Offshore Support Journal Conference in Dubai will focus on major regional and global issues and offer all those involved in the offshore sector the opportunity to gather intelligence and network with other industry leaders. I thank Dubai Maritime City Authority for their support in making this event possible. As with all OSJ conferences all over the world, our Dubai event will bring together all stakeholders in the Offshore Support industry – major oil players, ship owners, shipbuilders, financiers, designers, suppliers, OEMs, and class and industry associations alike. The conference will feature an excellent mix of commercial and operational sessions focussed on the region’s key business priorities,” said Steve Labdon, Managing Director at Riviera.
The conference is of strategic importance as it provides an interactive platform to discuss ways to cope with emerging challenges and take advantage of recruitment opportunities in the Middle East. The region has become an attractive destination for operators of offshore support vessels in light of the steady growth of its investments into marine production and exploration.
DMCA Executive Director Amer Ali explains that Dubai is leading the march towards joining the ranks of the most prominent and advanced maritime centers in the world. He points out that OSJ’s decision to hold the conference in Dubai confirms the evolution of the emirate’s local maritime sector which has become a pillar for driving sustainable growth and overall development.
“Our participation in the 2014 Middle East Offshore Support Journal Conference is in line with the local maritime sector strategy which follows a clear vision for strengthening Dubai’s position as a leading global maritime center. This strategy focuses on the organization, development and promotion of all components of marine activities in the emirate to create an integrated environment that enhances the contributions of the maritime sector to local economic development,” said Ali.
“Through our participation in the conference we look forward to interacting with key regional and international experts to discuss vital commercial, financial, technical and organizational issues impacting the operations of offshore support vessels. We are confident that the event will be an ideal platform for investors who are looking for new investment prospects and promising growth opportunities within the Middle East’s thriving maritime support sector,” Ali added.
Offshore Support Journal organizes the largest specialist conference on offshore support vessels in the world annually in London, UK. Motivated by the steady growth witnessed by this sector, the journal has launched a series of collocated events in some of the world’s most strategic areas in order to discuss key operational and commercial issues from a regional perspective and in consideration of unique local market requirements. The spotlight is now being directed towards the inaugural Middle Eastern edition of the conference, which will gather prominent regional and international experts under one roof in Dubai and in so doing will help further consolidate the emirate’s leading position on the global maritime map.
