Dubai Taxi to sell used taxicabs online in coop with Tejari
The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it will cater to the management of selling its used taxicabs via online auctions in cooperation with Tejari, and as such has become the first entity to embark on the smart selling of large scale assets online.
To this effect an agreement spanning several years has been signed in Tejari stand at Gitex by Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation, and Nader Sabbaghian, CEO of Tejari, in the presence of senior executives from both parties.
Commenting on the Agreement, Al Hammadi said: “Embracing the shift to the tools of the internet by the Dubai Taxi Corporation offers a simple, smooth and transparent process for the public to submit bids for more than 1500 taxicabs that are being dispensed with every year. Tejari will empower the technological services & lend support to the scheduled online auctions in such a way that auctioned vehicles will be awarded to the highest bidders in a process that enables potential buyers to submit bids and view their competitive standings online.
“We are continuously endeavouring to uplift all aspects of our services and processes through capitalizing on innovative information technology, and this project is a good example demonstrating our determination to revamp and simplify the selling of assets in a smart way,” he continued.
“The entire process will be managed via a central online portal through which the new batch of the would-be auctioned used taxicabs will be announced. It will also be possible for interested bidders to register their names for taking part in the auction and get involved in a live broadcast online,” added the Acting CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation.
For his part Nader Sabbaghian, CEO of Tejari, expressed his delight with this initiative; considered the first of its kind in the region and a testament to the new drive towards the Smart Government.
He added: “The Agreement underscores the unqualified readiness to cope with all technological developments, and Tejari takes pride in supporting the shift of the Dubai Taxi Corporation towards this creative auctioning platform.” This partnership, he continues, offers us a great opportunity to showcase the real capabilities of the internet tools in selling large-scale commercial assets.
