Dubai World Central showcases Aviation District at 2014 MRO Middle East exhibition
Dubai World Central (DWC), the world’s first purpose-built aerotropolis, generated huge interest over its Aviation District from prospective investors and multinational corporations during the 2014 MRO Middle East, the leading regional aviation maintenance exhibition and conference, held recently at the Dubai World Trade Center.
During the two-day event focused on offering most innovative concepts in aircraft maintenance, repair and operations (MROs), DWC highlighted the competitive advantages of the Aviation District, a 6.7 square kilometer development adjacent to the Al Maktoum International Airport. Envisioned to meet the present and future needs of aviation businesses, the district features state-of-the-art infrastructure, an education cluster, and world-class aviation expertise.
DWC’s Aviation District is strategically designed to accommodate all aviation-related operations, manufacturing and associated industries, Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), MROs, aviation support services, design and consultancy, products and parts, light manufacturing units, and high technology industries. It provides both landside and airside facilities and leverages the current and future capacity of the Al Maktoum International Airport.
Rashed Bu Qara’a, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, said: “Dubai World Central is the only development based on the concept of the airport city in the Middle East. It has opened up infinite possibilities for the global aviation industry seeking to do business in the MENA region. The DWC Aviation District’s integration of aviation business elements has attracted the attention of major industry players. Our participation at MRO Middle East 2014 gave us a perfect platform to promote the district as a gateway for global MRO companies to strengthen their presence in the region.”
Beyond its aviation focus, the Aviation District also offers well-defined zones for sectors such as hospitality, education, research and development (R&D), and mixed-used development. The hospitality zone will cater to the needs of aviation professionals by providing three- to five- star hotels, restaurants and clubs. The education zone, on the other hand, will bring together programs from leading educational institutions to form a comprehensive aviation campus. The R&D zone will work in collaboration with the educational institutions to offer a unique diagnostic and engineering center. Finally, the mixed-use zone will house residential and commercial buildings meeting the requirements of ancillary businesses surrounding the Aviation District.
“MRO Middle East 2014 enabled us to showcase the unparalleled features and world-class facilities at Dubai World Central’s Aviation District to an enthusiastic global audience. It also gave us an opportunity to share with potential business partners a detailed view of our development. We are highly committed to help businesses and organizations who are looking to establish their offices in the Aviation District, which is poised to drive aerospace growth in the UAE and the MENA region,” concluded Bu Qara’a.
