Public Transport Agency signs MoU with Big Bus Tours
The RTA Public Transport Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Big Bus Tours, the world’s largest Hop-on, Hop-off sightseeing tour operator.
Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency and Mike Lees, General Manager of Big Bus Tours in the Middle East, have agreed to implement Big Bus Tours bus stop poles across the city of Dubai.
This mandate was initiated with the aim of enhancing tourism infrastructure within the city; and providing better facilities to tourists using Hop-on, Hop-off services. Tourists will now be able to identify each Big Bus Tours stop location through the placement of these poles, as seen in other major cities worldwide. This initiative was designed to meet the expectations of tourists visiting the city and is in line with His Highness’s vision of expanding Dubai as a hub of global tourism.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, CEO, Public Transport Agency and Mr. Mike Lees, General Manager of Big Bus Tours in the Middle East. The signing took place at the Public Transport Agency (PTA) Office and was attended by members of the RTA and DTCM.
Dr. Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, said, “We are happy to support the tourism Industry in Dubai and specifically tourist transportation service providers, by regulating and authorizing the placement of the bus stop poles around the city at the RTA Bus stops. This initiative comes to ease operations and provide more consistency and convenience to the tourists and the tourism industry in Dubai on a larger scale, as is the case in other international cities. Tourists are important to us and we need to ensure their safety and comfort is met in Dubai.”
Mike Lees, General Manager, Big Bus Tours Middle East, said, “As a major stakeholder in Dubai’s tourism sector, Big Bus Tours shares Dubai’s vision of establishing the city as a global tourism hub, collaborating with both the RTA and DTCM in contributing to its success.
