Record sales for BMW Group vehicles in Abu Dhabi in first half of 2014
Abu Dhabi Motors has reaffirmed its market dominance for BMW Group vehicles in the Capital with record sales across the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. The exclusive importer of BMW Group vehicles in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain achieved a growth of 57% across BMW and MINI brands and an increase of 6% for Rolls-Royce in the first half of 2014.
The latest results see the BMW Group importer retain its title as the best performing importer in the Middle East for BMW group sales and one of the best performing dealers globally for Rolls-Royce sales.
In addition, the positive sales figures highlight the continued growth of the UAE’s automotive industry, and in particular the strength of the Abu Dhabi market. The company’s half year results also illustrate the scale of Abu Dhabi Motors’ ambition to achieve record year-on-year sales and drive towards increased market share. Growth for the BMW brand was primarily driven by an increase in sales of the X models: the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé 46% (1,581), X5 Sports Activity Vehicle 20% (1,150), BMW 5 Series 31% (815) and the BMW 7 Series 2% (200) which consistently remain the best performing models.
“The flagship BMW 7 Series as well as our higher-end BMW X models continue to be drivers of growth here in the capital,” said Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors. “The BMW 7 Series epitomises what a luxury sedan should be – blending performance and innovation into a truly premium vehicle. Likewise, the BMW X lines continue to garner keen interest amongst our discerning customers as they seek out the best in the Sports Activity segment. As the International Motoring Press all confirm, our cars are the clear segment leaders in terms of Driving Pleasure, performance, low maintenance costs and quality,” Arno added.
Abu Dhabi Motors’ exceptional performance for the Rolls-Royce brand has also continued in to the first six months of 2014 achieving a growth of 6%, and once again placing itself among the top dealers in the world for the pinnacle luxury automotive brand. Earlier in the year, Abu Dhabi Motors reaffirmed its position as the world’s number one seller of Rolls-Royce vehicles with seven awards from the prestigious Rolls-Royce Dealer Awards Programme, which this year included a second consecutive ‘Global Dealer of the Year’ title.
Among the other accolades bestowed on Abu Dhabi Motors by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars was the global award for ‘Best Bespoke Dealer Worldwide 2013’; global recognition of Brand Manager, Kadhim Al Helli, with the ‘Brand Manager of the Year 2013’ honour; and the regional title of ‘Regional Dealer of the Year 2013’.
“Over the last few years, the Rolls-Royce brand in Abu Dhabi has consistently grown from strength-to-strength, leading to its position as the most recognised market both internationally and regionally for sales. The MINI brand also registered an increase of 18% delivering 190 cars to customers for the first half of 2014. The seven-member MINI family was recently bolstered with its latest addition – the all-new MINI Hatch. Offering more space as well as a host of new MINI technological innovations, the vehicle is poised to lead the MINI brand in the Capital to the next level.
