ADNEC organizes workshop on development of business tourism in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) hosted a workshop titled ‘Together for a Better Business Tourism Sector’ seeking to update the local business tourism community and ADNEC’s strategic partners with latest sectoral developments.
The workshop outlined the anticipated role of the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector in supporting the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
Featuring presentations by officials from ExCel London, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) and ADNEC, the session analysed the business tourism sector locally and globally, and factors that impact the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi and ADNEC. A detailed presentation on ADNEC’s current strategic plan was also conducted. Suggestions and feedback from strategic partners were invited towards the formulation of ADNEC’S strategic plan for 2015 – 2019.
His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Managing Director of ADNEC, said: “Organising this workshop reiterates our priority to enhance communications with all our partners, locally and internationally. The workshop is aligned with the vision and aspirations of our wise leadership to advance the contributions of the thriving tourism industry, one of the key sectors identified by the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, towards the overall economic development of the emirate.
“ADNEC seeks to collaborate with its partners to create a favourable climate for business tourism and make it more attractive, while reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s global status and sharpening its competitive edge towards attracting major international events across diverse economic sectors.”
Underlining the importance of enabling ADNEC’s strategic partners to play a larger role in the development of its strategic plan for the next five years, the workshop highlighted the need to better align ADNEC’s plans and strategies with the long-term vision and plans of the Abu Dhabi Government through facilitating meaningful dialogue. The initiative is expected to lead to greater cooperation and coordination between ADNEC and its strategic partners through the horizontal alignment of priorities.
Al Dhaheri added: “What Abu Dhabi has achieved over the past 10 years is unique and unprecedented. This did not materialise out of vacuum, but is the result of the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the close follow up of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the continued support of His Highness Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
“In line with these efforts, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, ADNEC Chairman and its board of directors have extended their full support to any initiatives and mechanisms that improve organisational work within ADNEC.”
Al Dhaheri noted that the overwhelming participation of ADNEC’s partners in the workshop is further proof that both the public and private sectors in Abu Dhabi are keen to join hands for the advancement of the business tourism sector in Abu Dhabi. He said ADNEC would spare no efforts in implementing initiatives that promote better engagement with its local and international partners.
