BECA Board of Directors’ meeting – continuous growth in MICE industry
The Board of Directors of Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority held its fourth quarter meeting on 30 December 2014. The Board reviewed the financial summary of BECA for year 2014 and also approved the proposed general budget for year 2015.
The Board was informed of the Authority’s plans and programmes for the year 2014 and those planned in 2015 which are expected to exceed the operational results achieved for the year 2014 including 74 total exhibitions and conferences, 3,200 total exhibitors from 64 total participating countries, 2.3 million square metres total gross space of booked events and 656 total days of booked events.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority, H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, assured the importance of the exhibition and convention sector and its position is included in the Government and Ministry of Industry and Commerce priority objective.
The Board is confident that the steady growth of the exhibition and convention industry will continue to escalate in 2015 with an increasing number of specialised international business-to-business exhibitions and major international events already booked as of to-date and was satisfied to note the various Management initiatives as well as improvements and upgrade projects of the existing Exhibition Centre facilities already completed and for implementation in 2014.
