May 14, 2014 10:47 am

Egypt’s official statistics agency CAPMAS has said the number of tourists visiting the country in March 2014 fell 32.4% to 755,000, compared with the same month last year, Ahram has reported. Vacations in Egypt during the month were also shorter as compared to the same period a year earlier, with the number of nights spent by tourists down by 43.6%. Egypt’s tourism sector, which represents 11% of the country’s GDP, has been suffering from ongoing shocks ever since the 2011 uprising that unseated Hosni Mubarak.
