Greg Malouf’s Dubai restaurant opening in the fourth quarter of 2014
Michelin-starred chef and author Greg Malouf announces that his first restaurant in the country, Clé Dubai, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year at Al Fattan Currency House, Dubai International Financial Center. The homegrown destination restaurant, featuring Malouf’s award-winning, contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine, also serves as an exciting arts and performance venue with a luxurious bar and lounge offering.
Clé Dubai will set a new benchmark in the vibrant Dubai dining scene. The name reflects the venue’s promise to unlock the experience of contemporary Middle Eastern cuisine, as expressed through Malouf’s eyes, as well as a journey of discovery through the space itself, where the mood of approachable luxury is tempered by exquisite detailing.
Born in Melbourne to Lebanese parents, Michelin-starred chef, Greg Malouf, is widely regarded as the modern Middle Eastern master and has been a defining force on the international food scene for the last fifteen years. With seven best-selling and award-winning food and travel books to his name, Malouf’s food reflects a deep connection with his heritage as well as inspiration from his extensive travels around the Middle East. Now settled in Dubai, Malouf and his team will provide a matchless dining experience, always to his own exacting standards.
Clé Dubai also offers a journey of the senses through revolving displays of art and sculpture; music and live performance; and its maze-like corners and intriguing sections that can be readily shaped to the needs of the guests. Located in a former commercial building, the space has been reinvented to create a restaurant of rare style and scale. Clé Dubai features an airy dining area, where grand floor to ceiling windows flood the room with natural light. It is the ideal backdrop to showcase Malouf’s exciting food – full a la carte menu or modern banquet-style. Private and VIP events have their own self-contained space with separate, exclusive access.
At either end of the restaurant, there is a casual lounge area and intimate bar. These offer lighter, mezze-style small plates and a comprehensive drinks menu of award-winning international wines, fresh juices and cutting edge cocktails, devised and prepared by in-house mixologists. A vast open-air terrace stretches the entire length of the building. Fringed with greenery, it is the ideal spot for relaxing on day beds with mezze and shisha and to enjoy sweeping views of the Burj Khalifa.
The combined dining, lounge and bar areas cater to over 300 people, seated, or in excess of 1,000 in pure standing capacity. The vast al fresco terrace area extends this capacity further in the cooler months.
“This is my home, my new destination and my dream to finally cook in the Middle East. This is a place where I can put Middle Eastern cuisine on a pedestal. Cle’s food is truly an expression of an ancient culture done graciously and generously. My life’s work has arrived,” says Malouf.
