Muscat, Salalah airports witness increase in passengers, flights in H1
Muscat and Salalah airports announced surge in flight and passenger traffic by the end of the first half of 2014.The total number of flights increased by 1.3% (40,204) at the end of June this year compared to 39,695 flights in the same period last year. The number of passengers also increased by 7.5% (4.43 million) compared to 4.12 million passengers in the same period last year, Muscat Daily reported. The total number of international flights saw an increase at Muscat airport, reaching 35,510 in the first six months this year as compared to 35,206 over the same period last year, a growth of 0.9%. A report released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reveals that the total number of arrivals, departures and transit passengers increased by 7.5% reaching 4.04 million compared to 3.75 million passengers over the same period last year. Of the total passengers, 2 million were classified as arrivals, 2.01mn departures and 17,108 were transit passengers.
