Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat participates in blood donation drive
The employees of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat pitched in to donate blood at the Ministry of Health’s blood donation camp conducted at the Hotel recently. The Ministry holds such camps at various locations across the city, and the Radisson Blu is proud to be one of the regular venues for this cause. The last camp was held at the Hotel in February. This time around, twenty-six staffers participated in the activity. As is the procedure, a medical team visited the Hotel to collect blood from donors. Days prior to the visit, the Hotel had informed its employees about the upcoming camp. The visiting team first screened the staffers and collected vital information from them, following which the drive began in right earnest. The drive is aimed at helping save the lives of accident and emergency victims, and patients in need of blood for transfusion. It was heartening to see Hotel employees across departments and levels participating in the exercise and showing their commitment to a better, healthier society.
Each employee had their own reason for donating blood. While for some it was the desire to help those in need, for others it was an unselfish act that brings the community closer. Others took a more practical approach – as one staffer said, in addition to saving lives, long-term blood donation has multiple benefits for donors, such as reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. Whatever their reasons, the Hotel has always facilitated employee participation in such worthy initiatives through its group-level Responsible Business programme.
The Carlson-Rezidor Hotel group’s Responsible Business programme has three pillars: Think planet, Think people and Think together. The blood donation drive is part of the third pillar, which talks about ‘respecting social and ethical issues in the company and the communities’ in which the group operates.

Therefore, the Hotel has a busy calendar of activities through the year, where we get employees to roll up their sleeves – literally in this case – and help us give back to society.
