RO48.223m 4 and 5 star hotels revenue in Q1 2014
Total number of guests at 4 & 5 star hotels witnessed an increase of 22.7% by the end of Q1 2014 totaling 198,383 guest compared with 161,685 guest during the same period in 2013.
The total revenue also grew by 7.4% during the same period to 48.223 million R.O when compared with 44.905 R.O during the first quarter of 2013. Occupancy rate also rose to 71.4% during Q1 2014 compared with 69.2% during the same period in 2013 which reflects an increase of 3.2%.
“Main indicators for 4 & 5 star hotels” report issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information NCSI revealed that guests from Europe topped the list of hotel guests (4 & 5 star) during Q1 of 2014 with 83,468 guest, following were Omanis with 53,561 guests, and guest from GCC countries with 19,156 guest, and from Asia with 18,335 guest. Other guests were from other Arab countries, Africa, America, Oceania and other countries.
When comparing the change in number of guests between Q1 2014 and Q1 2013, the statistics reveal that guests from Europe increased by 31.4% and Omani guests by 10.6%, guests from GCC countries by 20.6%, and gusts from other countries by 36%.
Braking down the numbers on monthly basis, the total number of guests in January 2014 was 57,814 guest.
The number grew and reached 69,344 guest in February 2014 growing to 71,225 guest in March 2014. Revenues grew gradually from 14.714 million R.O in January 2014 to 16.446 million R.O in February 2014 increasing to 17.063 million R.O in March 2014. Occupancy rate in January 2014 was 66.6% growing to 75.3% in February 2014, the rate, however, declined in March 2014 to 72.7% when compared with February 2014.
