Kuwaiti lawmakers discuss plan to build 35,000 residential units

Kuwait’s Parliament has discussed a proposal to build 35,000 housing units near Khiran resort, 110 km south of the capital, to meet acute housing shortage in the country, Kuna has reported. Chairman of the Housing Committee, Faisal Al-Kanderi told reporters that the panel has received initial approvals on the project from Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul. The committee is set to hold another session soon to study the proposal in details, Al-Kanderi said, adding that members of the committee are keen on setting a clear-cut schedule for the project’s implementation.
