ADSIC reports significant rise in community engagement using CityGuard

Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) has reported a significant increase in the total number of downloads and cases reported using the innovative CityGuard mobile application. During the first four months, 26375 users downloaded the application, meanwhile 2935 cases were reported.

In the first four months of 2014 alone, the number of downloads has more than doubled since last year, while the number of cases reported has nearly tripled.

The recent advertising campaign that was rolled out by ADSIC from March to April contributed to achieving these exceptional results. During the two-month period, approximately 20,000 users downloaded the CityGuard application and a total of 2312 cases were reported. Cases reported in 2014 consisted of 46 different categories. The most common cases reported were related to damaged roads (522 cases), waste disposal (320 cases), accumulation of waste (200 cases) and parking related issues (133 cases).

Khadeeja Al Hammadi, Contact Centre Service Manager at ADSIC, said, “The outstanding increase in the number of downloads and cases reported was made possible with the effective strategy we put forward for CityGuard. Since it was launched in 2011, the application was downloaded by 58882 users and a total of 8381 cases have been reported, of which 86% were closed successfully. These results indicate that we have successfully managed to create awareness amongst smartphone users on the importance of the application and the positive impact it has on the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

She added, “We are keen to encourage more residents to adopt the CityGuard application and enable it as a tool that allows direct reporting to Abu Dhabi government entities. In line with the envisions of Abu Dhabi 2030, ADSIC is paving the way for digital transformation to ensure the emirate is at the forefront of technological advancements and that an efficient ICT infrastructure is in place. We are also determined to improve the level of e-government services offered in the emirate to benchmark us against global nations.”

The two-month campaign aimed at encouraging the use of CityGuard mobile for reporting civic issues directly to the Abu Dhabi Government. ADSIC reached out to residents through traditional media as well as social media during the campaign. Kiosks were also set up in malls within Abu Dhabi city and Al Ain to raise awareness on the application and induce trials. The campaign encouraged people living in Abu Dhabi to take part in making a positive change to their city using the innovative platform. It also highlighted the leading role of ADSIC in promoting and implementing state of the art solutions to boost the emirates IT and ICT infrastructure.

Incident reported by the public are routed through the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre (800 555), which connects with over 50 government organizations allowing the concerned entity to receive and respond to each case. Participating government entities are the three Municipalities of the Abu Dhabi Emirate, Abu Dhabi Police, Department of Transport, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and Health Authority – Abu Dhabi amongst others.
