Alba inaugurates new datacentre

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), June 16, 2014, inaugurated its new datacentre in the presence of Managing Director, Kuwait & Bahrain, HP, Omar Draghmeh and Alba’s Executives along with Manager Information Technology, Esam Hadi, various department Managers, Alba Labour Union representatives.

Situated at Alba’s Calciner & Marine plant, the new datacentre is one of the latest Generations of Containerised Datacentre (CDC) and was designed in-house by Alba’s IT team to suit the company’s requirements. Built by HP, the datacentre was delivered, commissioned and live in early December 2013.

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of Alba’s new datacentre, the company’s IT Manager, Esam Hadi said:

“With an eye on the future, Alba has invested in a modern CDC, which provides a high-quality environment for central data storage and networking, as well as the software essential to access and manage these resources. Designed specifically to help meet the unique needs of Alba, this datacentre will ensure efficient continuity of operations, increased energy efficiency, and reduced risk.”

Adding further, Alba’s Chief Financial Officer, Ali Al Baqali said, “The main challenge for organisations in the world today is to manage the flow of data effectively and efficiently, in a competent and secure IT infrastructure. Alba’s new datacentre underlines its commitment to continuous improvement, and its dedication to promote operational efficiency. I applaud the IT Department’s efforts for developing solutions that promote efficient operations throughout the organisation.”
