China is Dubai’s biggest trade partner in Q1 2014

Dubai Customs has said that China has topped the list of the emirate’s trading partners in the first quarter of 2014, with a trading value of Dhs38.5bn, up 27% over the Dhs30.3bn recorded in the same quarter last year, Khaleej Times has reported. Dubai’s foreign trade during the first three months of this year amounted to Dhs323bn, of which Dhs201.4bn were imports, Dhs26.5bn exports and Dhs94.4bn re-exports, the department said. Direct trade contributed 61% of Dubai’s foreign trade, valued at Dhs196.5bn, while free zones contributed 38%, amounting to Dhs122bn, and the customs warehouses made up 1% with a value of Dhs4.3bn.
