Hikma shares its experience on corporate agility and Arab youth employment at WEF Davos 2014
Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC, the fast growing multinational pharmaceutical group, and a Regional Associate of the World Economic Forum, participated in the Davos Forum on January 22nd to 25th 2014, to showcase Hikma’s experience on how corporations can become more agile in a fast-paced and complex world, and participate in an initiative for Arab employment.
Hikma was represented by Mazen Darwazeh, Hikma’s Vice Chairman and CEO for the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).
Youth employment is high on Hikma’s priorities through its strong commitment to the region. It is actively working on a WEF initiative named the New Vision for Arab Employment, which aims to boost employment and employability in the region especially of youth. Hikma works with regional partners to bridge the gap between youth skills and the needs of the workplace to ease youth’s transition from university to work.
Through its partnership with the WEF as a Regional Associate, Hikma shares the Forum’s vision and goals of advancing growth, rebuilding communities and resilience to face the consequences of the societal, political and commercial change.
As a panelist in the CEO series entitled “Organizational Agility and Learning in a Complex World”, Darwazeh emphasized that Hikma is continuously striving to learn how to improve its ability and create value for the customers and shareholders. Pointing out the importance of evaluating business models’ flexibility and how they can be improved and structured to participate in numerous supportive trends such as economic growth, demographics and healthcare policies.
Darwazeh said, “Hikma’s vision is to strategically expand by maintaining high quality affordable products and focusing on the sustainable development of healthcare systems, which is valued by our customers and the governments of the countries that we are located in. It is important for companies to have a balanced long-term vision which helps in planning, motivation, and accountability.”
