ITA’s HR Department switches to paperless work environment
The Information Technology Authority (ITA) kicked off its HR Paperless Initiative implementing the Public Key Infrastructure Technology (PKI). From now on, all employment processes, including offer letters, job contracts, signatures of all concerned parties, etc are electronic. The launch of HR electronic services is legislated by the eTransaction law No. 69/2008 that regulates the relationship between the employer and the employee, to ensure legal and transparent processes.
With the use of PKI to authenticate the candidate’s personal identity through the PKI-enabled ID card and the possibility to sign electronically, all employment processes are now paperless without the need to print out a single sheet of paper.
Mr. Ahmed Khalfan Al Ramadhani, Director of Human Resources, ITA comments: “This new HR service is just the beginning towards a complete end to end user experience enabled by the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). ITA HR is the first department which started using the PKI in signing the official employment documents, such as offer letter , employment resolution , employment contracts,”
The Human Resources Department at ITA is currently working on enabling job candidates to receive and sign job offers and contracts online without the need to visit ITA’s premises, thanks to the PKI electronic certification available on national ID cards which are issued from the Directorate General of Civil Status. Hence, it is crucial for all Omanis to renew their ID cards with the new PKI-enabled ones and then activate them at the e.oman Kiosks that are located at several commercial centers before applying for any jobs for easy and fast job recruitment.
“HR Department is nearly to have a full paperless workplace which represents a good example of ITA’s green initiative as well as the current eTransformation plan. We will continue to work on more innovative, secure and easy services in the coming endeavors.” Mr. Al Ramadhani concluded.
It is noteworthy that PKI is an Electronic Certification System provided by ITA which allows citizens and expatriates to use electronic services and transactions safely. People need Electronic Certification to ensure processing all eGovernment services in a fast and easy way, to save time, efforts and money.
