New Chinese Consul visits Jafza to explore investment opportunities

His Excellency, Tang Weibing, the new Chinese Consul General in Dubai, visited Jafza and discussed ways to further enhance trade ties with the Free Zone.

He was received by Ibrahim Mohamed al Janahi, the Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer of Jafza.

The Chinese delegation also included Their Excellencies Huguoai, the Vice Consul, Zhang Yi the Economic Consul, and Ma Taiping, the Consul.

His Excellency Tang’s also included a tour of the some of the major companies in the Free Zone.

Welcoming the delegation, Al Janahi said: “Jafza places a very high value on the business relations we have with China. It is currently one of Jafza’s largest trading partners, and has held this position for a number of years. His Excellency Tang’s visit highlights the importance China places on its business relations with Dubai and Jafza.

“Trade between the UAE and China has seen constant growth in the past years, with approximately 60 percent of China’s total trade passing through the UAE for re-export,” he added.

He briefed the Consul General on Jafza’s unsurpassed logistics infrastructure, coupled with the location and access to a market of over 2 billion people in the greater MENA region, and how it is one of the key reasons companies from all around the world are interested in setting up in the Free Zone.

Al Janahi also explained the unique value proposition Jafza offers by virtue of its strategic central location, with the Jebel Ali Port on one end and the Al Maktoum International Airport on the other, making it part of one of the largest sea-land-air corridors in the world.

He explained that with the addition of upcoming Etihad rail passing through the Free Zone, Jafza will have another facet added to its multi-modal connectivity.

More than 170 Chinese companies are currently based in Jafza. Approximately 60% of these companies deal in Oil & Gas sector, while the remaining are divided among electronics, electrical and heavy machinery sectors.

Jafza last year took part in Automechanika Shanghai, where Jafza received tremendous response from visitors. He said Jafza had the distinct privilege of representing both Dubai and the UAE, being the only UAE government organisation exhibiting.
