Oman’s manpower ministry has said that it has neither set any target number of expatriates to be removed from their jobs nor a timeframe for the same, Muscat Daily has reported. The announcement was in response to a recent local media report that said that about 100,000 jobs would be taken from expatriates and given to Omanis to redress the imbalance in the sultanate’s employment market. “The ministry is trying hard to Omanise jobs but has not decided on any specific number of expatriates to be removed. We are, of course, trying to bring in more Omanis into the private sector,” a ministry official told the daily.
