Oman inflation up 1.53% in April

Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has said the country’s inflation rate grew 1.53% year-on-year in April 2014, and 0.58% compared with the previous month, Muscat Daily has reported. According to NCSI’s ‘Consumer Price Index Report,’ the food and non-alcoholic beverages segment prices rose by 2.54%, while housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels grew by 1.65%. Education costs recorded an increase of 6.3%. Health costs rose by 6.01%, communication costs by 0.14%, and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance prices were up 7.52%.
