Al Nabooda Automobiles has announced its support and sponsorship of the Al Ihsan Charity Association initiative ‘A Safe Ramadan’ which works to improve road safety in the UAE during the Holy Month.

The sole distributor of Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen in Dubai and the Northern Emirates will be the main sponsor of this year’s cause, helping to distribute light meals at traffic intersections before Maghrib prayers.

When ‘A Safe Ramadan’ was launched by Al Ihsan in 2012 it distributed 40,000 meals in Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah. In 2013, distribution was expanded to include Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Qwain, with 100,000 meals given away for free.

This year, the charity will add Abu Dhabi and Fujairah to its network, reaching all of the UAE, to meet its target of 6,800 meals distributed per day and a total of 200,000 meals over the course of the Holy Month.

“Ramadan is a very special time for reflection, appreciation and compassion, and it is a month which sees a tremendous amount of importance on spending time with family and loved ones,” said Mr K. Rajaram, Chief Executive Officer of Al Nabooda Automobiles. “The work that Al Ihsan Charity Association has achieved in the last two years with this initiative has been very impressive and we hope our support this year will help double their outreach from 2013,” he added.

With support from each Police Authority in the UAE, Al Ihsan Charity works with a team of more than 400 volunteers to carry out A Safe Ramadan cause. The light meal boxes contain water, juice, dates and Ramadan sweets to provide hydration and a light sugar burst to people who have been fasting throughout the day. The overriding objective of the initiative is to reduce excessive speed and accidents on the roads, while educating drivers about being safe during Ramadan.
