Star Wars: The Last Jedi celebrated in Dubai in iconic fashion
Two of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks, Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, inspired one of the most talented Instagram artists, Paperboyo (Rich McCor).
Rich has attracted a large following on Instagram across the world (326,000 at the time of publishing) in just two years since he began posting.
Rich put his on touch on these modern building marvels with a Star Wars spin, after arriving to Dubai from London to create Star Wars architectural artwork, in celebration of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
He used cutouts in a very unique way to create clever artwork.
In his artworks shot in Dubai, Rich created paper cut out’s of Star Wars: The Last Jedi main character Rey, and much-loved droid BB-8, and positioned them against shots of the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab to create the illusion (respectively) of Rey holding the Burj Khalifa as a lightsaber and walking with BB-8 along the beach by Burj Al Arab.
Rich McCor comments on his work: “I’m a huge fan of both U.A.E architecture and Star Wars, so creating this bespoke artwork here in Dubai was a career highlight for me. Dubai has so many globally recognised landmarks and I enjoyed exploring the architecture – from Bur Dubai to Palm Jumeirah, to Dubai Marina – when I visited. With such a rich landscape of varied architectural style, I was spoiled for choice as to which buildings to use for the Star Wars shots, but chose the iconic Burj Khalifa and Burj al Arab as they are personal favourites of mine.”
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is showing in cinemas now across the U.A.E
