Dubai-based interior design company Zen Interiors has received two prestigious awards for its contemporary design of an exclusive villa on The Palm Jumeirah.

The design firm won Best Interior Design for a Residence in Dubai and Best Interior Design for a Residence in Arabia at the Africa and Arabia International Property Awards Summit held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai on Thursday 12th Noevmber.

Hundreds of entries were received from 25 countries across Africa and Arabia, and an independent judging committee comprised of 70 industry experts and chaired by two members of the House of Lords, looked for ingenuity of design, quality, service, originality and commitment to sustainability and awarded Zen Interiors the top regional recognition in this category.

Zen Interiors’ winning design for the five-bedroom villa on Palm Jumeirah focused on creating a timeless, coastal aesthetic that was technologically advanced. Folding doors, floor to ceiling windows, curved walls and a light, streamlined interior design all contributed to the open and light feel of the property. High-end international designer furniture brands such as Flexform, Minotti, Knoll and Cassina sit alongside bespoke soft furnishings and unique feature walls to create a beautiful space with panoramic views of the ocean.

Patrick van IJzendoorn and Merete Broen are the husband and wife team who founded Zen Interiors in 2003. Broen commented, “This is the third year we have won an International Property Award for our designs and we are thrilled that our design team is being recognised and awarded once again for their dedication to quality and creativity. This is a special project that has involved not just decoration and furnishing, but structural changes and complex architectural enhancements and we are delighted that the passion and talent of Zen Interiors is being recognised on a global stage.”

As regional winners in their category, Zen interiors are now going forward to the world final, announced in London on the 7th December, where this project will compete against entries from Europe, Asia Pacific, The Americas and the UK to become ‘The World’s Best’ in their field.

Stuart Shield, President of the International Property Awards said, “Once again, Arabian interior designers have excelled in this competition by demonstrating their flair for creating innovative and impressive interiors that also prove ideally suited for their purpose.”
