In 2018, businesswomen are still fighting for recognition as equals to men, still having to work harder in order to achieve what some men get in a blink of an eye.

Dubai, on the other hand, is working on empowering women and giving them a voice.

At a women’s invite-only event in Dubai, Marshall Goldsmith, #1 best-selling author, and leadership coach launched his book entitled “How Women Rise,” co-written by women’s leadership expert, Sally Helgesen.

In “How Women Rise”, Marshall Goldsmith has iterated the 12 habits that hold women back from further rising in the corporate hierarchy.

He provides industry-specific insights and helped some of the top female corporate leaders in the city identify and overcome roadblocks to success with his book: “How Women Rise.”

It’s important to spread the word on how women can help themselves and their careers take off, according to Gautam Ganglani, Managing Director, Right Selection Speakers Bureau +.

Ganglani highlighted how successful women can rise higher by letting go of the bad habits often incubated by one’s own workplace.

Anishkaa Gehani, Founder & CEO, Yardstick Marketing Management, explained the importance of this book from her view as a female expat with her own business in the UAE.

“How Women Rise is a very definitive guide to the kind of situations women often get themselves ‘stuck’ in, as a result of either not actively promoting themselves, letting others take credit, and other more women-centric workplace habits,” she said.

Many pieces of research published throughout the years confirm that women are better than men in the workplace.

Plenty of studies show that women do better than men in the classroom.

One of which is a recent research published by the University of Georgia and Columbia University, according to Real Business, a digital publication for SMEs,

The study suggests that behavior and approaches to learning help girls outdo the boys when it comes to education.

In other words, females appear to come across much better when it comes to attentiveness, task persistence, eagerness to learn, learning independence, flexibility, and organization – all prized assets for any business.

– Bright Prospects

Intelligence has always been there when talking about the battle of the sexes.

In the past, “IQ tests have consistently shown that men have the edge,” Real Business says, “but IQ expert James Flynn suggests women’s IQs are growing faster than men and that they are closing the gap.”

– Emotional Intelligence

The key pillars of good business and conscious capitalism seem to be emotional intelligence, empathy and proved communication skills, according to Business Media, a news, and social media outlet.

Women do indeed show higher levels on each of these traits, making them not only better employees but better managers as well, Business Media adds.

– Passing the stress test

A study published by the University of Western Ontario found that women can better handle stress, which is more efficient in workplace stress management, according to Business Media.

Against common misconception that women tend to freak out more than men in crisis situations, the study shows that women can better communicate in all given circumstances and with all people.

Business Media suggests that women are at their best in sales, negotiations, PR, inter-department relationships and so on.

Kip Tindell, CEO of the Container Store, explains the company’s wild success on the fact that 70% of the employees are women, according to Business Media.
