50% WOULD give up social media if they could have this instead. . .

A study by IKEA on UAE residents’ sleep habits has revealed some interesting insights, which is probably unsurprising as people listed work stress, kids and technology as the key reasons for missing out on sleep.

What is surprising is that 22% even went as far as to pick sleep over their partner.

That figure is still not as much as the next one, which only goes to show the role technology plays in our daily lives with 48% saying they would give up social media for an extra hour in bed each day.

The study finds just how prominent a role technology and personal devices play in our lives so with 50% admitting to checking their phone even before speaking to their partner in the morning. And, on average, 60% look at an electronic device within 5 minutes of waking up.

Vinod Jayan, Managing Director – IKEA UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman says in a statement, “Sleep is a very emotive subject, it’s personal to all of us and something that we are very protective of. But with busy lives and technology always by our side, we can sometimes struggle to get the quality hours we need to wake up feeling refreshed and revived.”
