The Arab Media Forum (AMF), a leading media gathering for the region’s top media figures, analysts and all media professionals, has started its 15th edition in the emirate of Dubai on Monday.

The two-day forum is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and is organised by Dubai Press Club (DPC).

Held under the theme of “Media for Good”, the forum’s numerous discussions and workshops focus on the media’s role in promoting human values across societies as its importance grows further in the region.

The forum will also include keynote speeches by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, UN Messenger of Peace and Chairperson of the International Humanitarian City, and the wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

HRH Princess Haya’s participation will highlight the link between the media industry and humanitarian efforts in the Arab world, according to Her Excellency Mona Ghanim Al Marri, Chairperson of AMF’s Organising Committee and President of DPC.

“The philanthropic works of the International Humanitarian City (IHC) reflects the keenness of the UAE’s wise leadership to play a central and effective role in alleviating the sufferings of communities ravaged by either natural or man-made disasters,” HE Al Marri said in a statement.

HH Sheikh Mohammed is also expected to deliver a keynote speech at the forum.

In addition, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, His Excellency Nasswe Judeh, has been confirmed to deliver a keynote speech, highlighting a view on Arab media from a political perspective.

Some of the noteworthy sessions at AMF are: “Media that impacts humanity”, “Spreading peace and humanitarian principles”, “Media and terrorism”, “News channels: view from within”, “US-Arab diplomacy: The way forward” and “Covering the Middle East in the decade ahead and the impact of digital on journalism practices”.

The event is held in partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Etisalat and DP World, among others.
