The creative agencies behind some of the most successful rebranding, repositioning and brand transformation projects in the Middle East and North Africa will be vying for the ultimate regional accolades in the inaugural MENA edition of Europe’s prestigious Transform Awards to be held in Dubai this June.

The event, which until now has been held exclusively in London, is Europe’s only dedicated rebranding celebration, but with an increasing number of high quality ad and branding agencies in the Middle East, Cravenhill Publishing, the awards organisers, has broadened its reach to the Arab world.

As the GCC’s emerging markets in particular continue to evolve, a constant stream of mergers and acquisitions means there are more clients than ever for creative agencies to rebrand and reposition. A total of 30 awards, including ‘Best Creative Strategy’, ‘Best Brand Evolution’, ‘Best Rebrand of a Digital Property’ and ‘Best use of copy style / tone of voice’, will open the field for advertising and brand companies from all sectors to take part in the industry’s most prominent regional event.

“There is obviously an immense amount of rebranding, repositioning and brand transformation talent in the Middle East and North Africa and Transform Awards MENA is an excellent platform to celebrate that,” said Andrew Thomas, Founder of Transform and Managing Director of Cravenhill Publishing, publisher of the European Communicate magazine.

“The European Transform Awards are seen as a very real assessment of best practice, creativity, strategy, implementation and effectiveness and I’m sure the event here in Dubai will carry equal kudos. It is an award every agency will want to have in their cabinet,” Thomas added.

The London event attracts many of Europe’s rebranding pioneers along with seasoned professionals who have changed the course of company positioning and brand evolution. As with its continental counterpart, the entries for Transform Awards MENA will be assessed by expert brand practitioners, designers and journalists.

Judges include Editor-in-Chief of Branding Magazine, Flavia Barbat, Patrick Lloyd-Bradley, Brand and Marketing Communications Director for averda International, Ammar Elkurdi, Brand Manager for Volvo Cars, and Stephen McCallion, Global Head of Marketing and Communications, Abu Dhabi National Energy Company.

Fellow judge, Syed Abdul Karim Tanveer, Director of Brand Experience, Mobily said: “The Transform Awards are a great platform to celebrate the best from the world of branding. It is a wonderful opportunity for talent in the MENA region to be recognised for their work. This is key to inspire others and to help the industry evolve and mature.”

Patrick Lloyd-Bradley, Brand and Marketing Communications Director at averda International said: “To bring these awards to this part of the world is a celebration in itself and the winners will be benchmarked and recognised as the best in their class in the entire Middle East and North Africa. This isn’t just another competition, this is a milestone for those companies and agencies who come away with an award.”

Thomas added: “Understandably, Transform Awards MENA has already generated a huge amount of interest. This is the first time many of these agencies have had the chance to win accolades for their rebranding and repositioning skills. The closing date for award submissions is 11 March 2014, and we would urge any of those agencies who have not applied so far to do so as soon as possible to ensure their entries are processed.”

The awards will take place in the first week of June following the Transform MENA Conference, a must-attend event for brand managers, corporate communications professionals and marketers.
