OSN has introduced the first of its kind Internet-enabled satellite receiver and recorder with full 3D and high definition (HD) capabilities in Egypt, in an investment that it hopes will help counter content piracy, Rapid TV News. OSN Plus HD, which is supported by Cable Network Egypt, provides a digital video recorder (DVR), allowing Egypt-based viewers to pause and record live television for the first time. Video-on-demand (VOD) – with premium movies, TV series and children’s entertainment – is also a feature of the new service. “Egypt is set to become one of the largest and fastest growing markets for the television industry. As home to some of the most powerful content, Egyptian television is an inspiration for all. The launch of OSN Plus HD is a strategic and long-term growth initiative of OSN in Egypt, and we thank Cable Network Egypt for their continued support,” said David Butorac, CEO, OSN.
