Third Dubai International Peace Convention set to open tomorrow
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the third Dubai International Peace Convention opens tomorrow (17 April) at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The convention is hosted in collaboration with Al Manar Quran Study Centre and will run until Saturday, April 19. Seeking to highlight the Islam tenet of peace, the event will study the Holy Quran as a doctrine that promotes harmony, tolerance and moderation in the world. The Dubai International Peace Convention will also aim to build bridges of cooperation among diverse cultures and religions with a view to harmonizing international relations.
His Excellency Dr Hamad Bin Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace and Chairman of the Dubai International Peace Convention, will deliver a keynote address at 7:00pm on the opening day of the event.
At a press conference held last week in Dubai to announce the convention, Dr Shaibani affirmed that achieving peace on both the personal and international level has today become a global necessity for human beings if they wish to create and sustain a peaceful environment that contributes to the success and progress of all mankind.
The third Dubai International Peace Convention will include inter-faith panel discussions in multiple languages among eminent scholars and clerics from Arab and Islamic countries, including Sheikh Mishari Bin Rashid Al Afasi, Sheikh Yusuf Estes, Dr Zaker Nayeq, Sheikh Ismail Bin Musa Minq, Sheikh Mohammed Salah, Sheikh Tawfiq Tshodri, along with Sheikh Noman Ali Khan, Sheikh Asim Al-Hakim, Sheikh WalId Bassiouni, Sheikh Abdul Bari Yehya, Sheikh Saeed Rajeh, and Sheikh Ahmed Hamid.
The three-day event will also invite the participation of the public in activities such as the Intelligent Peace Dome, a Science Fair, Friday prayers, the Peace Pledge Campaign, Children’s Corner and the 2014 Peace Football Tournament for schools. A special closing ceremony will honor the special guests, sponsors and participants of the event.
Official media partner Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) is mandated with coordinating the convention’s activities and providing regional and international media with all logistical and technical requirements to cover the various sessions as well as facilitate communication with the speakers.
