BIBF held a graduation ceremony in celebration of learners who have recently completed the prestigious International Diploma in Compliance (IDC) awarded by the International Compliance Association (ICA) in collaboration with the University of Manchester Business School.

The IDC is a global benchmark qualification demonstrating excellence in compliance practice. The detailed programme, created by experienced industry professionals for industry professionals provides practical knowledge within an academic discipline. The diploma empowers students and equips them with a clear understanding of the compliance role within their own organisations as well as the wider financial services industry, and is endorsed by the British Bankers’ Association in the United Kingdom.

The IDC is a recommended qualification for Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs) / Deputy MLROs and Compliance Officers as per the requirements listed out in the Central Bank of Bahrain’s Training and Competency Model.

BIBF graduates surpassed global figures in the distinction criteria and have achieved a 13 percent ‘pass with distinction’ against a global distinction rate of 11 percent. Amongst the graduating cohort was Mr Balu Tiruvilandur, Head of Compliance at the National Bank of Bahrain, who set a global record with a score of 84 percent.

“It is indeed a matter of great pride to be the global topper in the International Diploma in Compliance. I would like to thank my organization for providing me the opportunity to pursue this qualification and BIBF for their continued commitment to excellence in education. A combination of their unstinted support and professionalism in delivering this international programme led to this monumental success”, Mr Balu stated during the ceremony.

Dr Ahmed A.Ghani Al Shaikh, BIBF’s Deputy Director, expressed immense pride in the achievements of the graduates and commended the faculty who worked tirelessly to ensure that exceptional training standards were being met.

“This is a clear testament to the depth of BIBF’s commitment to provide world-class education, not only to Bahrain and the MENA region, but the world at large. Our aim is to become the global institute of choice”, he emphasised.

Sales and Marketing Director Ms Helen Langton and Board Member Mr Dean Rowan from the ICA travelled from the UK to attend the ceremony. Since it was established in 2001, the International Compliance Association has been a champion of compliance professionalism.

“Qualifications are crucial in equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge they need in order to excel today and in the future. BIBF share this view with ICA and has been an exemplary partner in the promotion and nurturing of high standards of compliance education and development.

Consistently, the students who study with BIBF and with International Compliance Training Middle East – a long serving partner of the ICA in the region – do extremely well in their studies and go on to excel in their compliance careers. We at the ICA are incredibly proud to be part of this annual event”, said Ms Langton.
