Julius Baer, the Swiss private banking group, has appointed John Dagher as Head Lebanon as of 1 January 2014.

In his new role John Dagher will be based in Beirut and will focus on further developing and expanding Julius Baer’s franchise in Lebanon and the Levant region. He will report to Fred Hilal, Head Middle East Domestic.

“I am very pleased that John will assume the position as head of Julius Baer’s office in Lebanon. With his vast experience and his extensive network in the region, he is best positioned to extend our presence in Lebanon and the Levant region,” commented Fred Hilal.

John Dagher has more than 30 years’ experience in advising ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices and foundations. In his current role, John is a Managing Director Senior Advisor in Julius Baer’s Dubai office, heading a team that covers the Levant region. Prior to that, he played a pivotal role in developing Merrill Lynch’s operations in Lebanon and the GCC area.

“Through the acquisition of Merrill Lynch’s business in Lebanon, I look forward to further building on the office’s 50 year presence in the country and growing Julius Baer’s loyal client base in Lebanon and the Levant region,” said John Dagher.

Julius Baer announced on 9 December 2013 that Merrill Lynch’s International Wealth Management (IWM) business based in Lebanon transferred to Julius Baer. Through this step Julius Baer has gained a new foothold in Beirut, thus further enhancing its overall position in the important Middle Eastern wealth management market.
