7th International rare Disease Day launches

February 27, 2014 4:51 pm

A rare disease, also referred to as an orphan disease, is any disease that affects less than 1 in 2000 people. There are some 350 million people worldwide currently affected with a rare disease.

Most rare diseases are genetic, and thus are present throughout the person’s entire life, even if symptoms do not immediately appear.

The main objective of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients’ lives.

Al Jawhara Center and Arabian Gulf University are supporting the rare disease cause and will celebrate the International Rare Disease Day throughout a public awareness campaign organized on 28 of February in City Center Mall (Ground floor, Entrance 2, 10.am- 10 pm).

We are kindly inviting you to join us in celebrating this event.
