ADPC showcases megaproject

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) the master developer of ports and industrial zones in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi hosted a senior VIP delegation from the Suez Canal Authority in Egypt on 7 & 8 April 2014.

The senior officials were welcomed by Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Company.

They toured the state of the art facilities at Khalifa Port and met with representatives from ADPC Marine Services to discuss the provision of marine, pilotage and ancillary services across the company’s different ports.

The VIP guests were keen to understand the latest technologies being used in Khalifa Port, the range of customer focused online services and the operational efficiencies enjoyed as a result.

The visit included a tour of the Kizad Visitor Center at Taweelah and a discussion about the mega projects overall development. Khalifa Port forms an important link in the supply chain for regional and international companies establishing operations in the industrial zone ‘Kizad’. Several of the companies which have built factories and production units in the vertically integrated clusters will be starting full production this year, contributing towards the ports growing import and export volumes.

The delegation also visited ADPC’s Training Center in Mussafah Port. The center offers a range of internationally accredited maritime courses, many of which are not available in the GCC region. The center has ship simulators that can train pilots and captains on different maritime approaches and Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) by training specialists on this international method of ship traffic monitoring.
