Alba launches first batch of Women’s Vocational Training Programme

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) demonstrated its commitment to empower women with the launch of its first batch of Women’s Vocational Training (VT) Programme on February 18, 2014.

As part of the programme, 10 Bahraini women have been inducted to undergo a structured training programme over the span of two years during which, they will be trained on all aspects of the job in the assigned department. The inducted trainees have been assigned to the following departments: Infrastructure and Engineering, Procurement, Health, Safety and Environment, Marketing, Financial Accounting and Laboratory.

The programme has been divided into 6 modules, where each module will have class room and on-job training phases. Moreover, each trainee will be assigned an on-job mentor who will coach the trainee to achieve identified objectives.

Commenting on the launch of the first-ever batch of Women’s VT Programme, Alba’s Training & Recruitment Manager, Rawdha Salman Alaradi said: “In Alba, we consider women as equal contributors to the company’s productivity and we appreciate the Management for recognising the role of women employees. Alba is proud to launch the maiden Women’s VT Programme, which will provide women with necessary skills and hands-on training, as well as encouragement to boost their future careers.”

A part of Alba’s succession planning, the Women’s VT Programme is held in partnership with Tamkeen, who will support the training cost and salary increments for the trainees.
