American University in the Emirates and EURAS Organize One Day International Conference on ‘Transnational Education and Cultural Effects
American University in the Emirates organized one day conference on, ‘Transnational Education and Cultural Effects” in collaboration with Eurasian Universities Union recently attended by Presidents, Rectors, Vice-Rectors and delegates from more than 10 countries of the Eurasian region.
The conference focused on Transnational Education called for policy makers to meet, share and learn from their unique experiences. It started with the opening speeches by the President of AUE, Prof. /Dr. Muthanna Abdul Razzaq and the President of EURAS and Istanbul Aydin University, Dr. Mustafa Aydin.
The President of American University in the Emirates, Professor Muthanna Abdul Razzaq, said in his opening speech that, “AUE is committed to bring excellence in the educational sector and the topic of Transnational Education certainly cannot be ignored and calls for the policy makers in the educational sector to come forward to discuss the issues, challenges and future prospects in this area. In addition, the unique model of Dubai and DIAC is in fact a true example of Transnational Education”, he added further, while stating that he cannot resist to mention the name of the visionary leader Dr. Ayoub Kazim, who is the man behind this unique model of DIAC.
“The Eurasian Universities Union is targeting to promote dialogue and cooperation between cultures and civilizations in the region in order to generate a basis for a better and effective future”, said Dr. Mustafa Aydin, President of Eurasian Universities Union and Istanbul Aydin University.
After the opening speeches, moderated by the Director of International Office at AUE, Dr. Abhilasha Singh, the Presentation were made on the relevant topics like Quality Assurance and Recognition in Transnational Education by Prof. Mehmet Durman, the TNE and Cultural Context by Dennis Gayle, Executive Vice President, AUE, the Internationalization of the Higher Education Sector by Leigh Ann Khosla, Director of Business Development, TECOM Investments, Education Cluster, DIAC, What is next in Higher Education by Carmeb Costea, Vice Rector, Spiru Haret University Bucharest, the Role of Higher Education in Overcoming the Financial Crisis-the case of Albania by Greta Angjeli, Mediterranean University of Albania, The Recent Developments and Trends in Higher Education by Andra Seceleanu, Voce Rector, Saguna University, Brand New World in Higher Education by Judith Hidasi, Director, Budapest Business School and many other experts on the subject. The sessions were moderated by the expert comments by the Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Nabeel Jurdi.
The Deputy Chairman of AUE, His Excellency Khalaf Al Qubaisi presented memento to the key note speakers Prof. Mehmet Durman, the head of Commission of Quality Assessment and Improvement in Turkish Higher Education and Prof. Dennis Gayle, the Executive Vice President of AUE.
“I hope the conference will serve as a platform for policy makers to network, will generate new ideas to partnerships between the universities and will bring excellence in the educational sector in the region”, said His Excellency Khalaf Al Qubaisi while sharing his thoughts with the President of Eurasian universities Union and Istanbul Aydin University, Dr Mustafa Aydin.
The conference well attended and actively participated by many delegates, ended with many models of internationalization and future recommendations. The valedictory session moderated by the Director of International Office at AUE ended with her vote of thanks along with closing words and suggested future recommendations by Dr. Mustafa Aydin, the President of EURAS.
